Principal’s message June 19, 2026
What an amazing week it’s been at SAS!
The bike rodeo was a huge success, and we are truly grateful to the organizing committee, volunteers and Ridley Cyle for their time, energy and talents. With bad weather gradually building over the course of the morning we kept going to give all students the experience before the storm, and I think we made it. This would not have been possible without the grit and perseverance of the volunteers. Thank you!
Elder Shirley Hill was here for three days working with classes on storytelling, dancing and hoop activities. We are very fortunate to have this connection to Elder Shirley and she brings a warmth and kindness to our school that we deeply appreciate.
On Thursday we had our 25th anniversary open house for former staff, students and community members. There was a great turn out and hearts were filled as people reconnected, reminisced and strolled down memory lane together. Here’s to the next 25 years!
To all of our amazing volunteers over the year – we hope you will come to the volunteer tea on Tuesday June 23 2:00-3:10 PM.
Staffing Update
We have our staffing complete for next year. We are pleased to welcome Yuna Kwong to grade 3, Shelby Langereis to music and grade 4-5 math, and we welcome back Jamie Ikebuchi to the grade 4-5 team.
August Open House
We will be having a welcome back open house on Friday, August 28, 2026 for students and families. Students on an IPP can come between 9:30-10:00 AM, and all families are welcome 10:00-10:30AM. We hope you can drop in to see the classroom, meet the teacher and catch up with old friends.
Soccer Focus Group
This week we convened a soccer focus group made up of students from grade 3-4 who were nominated by their peers. They began working with me to develop a set of soccer agreements and it is our hope that school-yard soccer continues to be fun, safe and respectful for anyone who wants to join in.
Final Week of School
As we move towards the end of the year, students will be bringing home art work, journals etc. Consider sending an extra grocery bag to make it easier for them. Indoor shoes need to come home on the last day of school. Unclaimed lost and found items will be leaving the school and donated on June 26 right after dismissal.
Book Fair
Our book fair did $377.03 in online sales, and total credit earned from the fair is $75.41. We want to thank all staff and families for their support.
