Principal’s Message

This year marks a significant milestone as we honour the 10-year commemoration of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action. On Friday April 24 school staff will be participating in our own personalized day of learning in alignment with our TRC Commitment to Action and School Development Plan. Scenic Acres Commitment to Action for 2025-26 is as follows:

  • Embedding Indigenous perspectives through cross curricular learning tied to our theme:” Be Brave like a Buffalo/This is Our Herd”
  • Hosting Bravery, guided by Elders, to explore resilience, Treaty 7, & Connection to the land
  • Creating tasks that honour Indigenous ways of knowing and activate spirit, heart, body, mind.
  • Building respectful relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers

Our work on April 24 will include planning writing activities through the book Brave Like a Buffalo, utilization of the ravine for learning on the land and looking ahead to working again with Elder Shirley Hill in June.

Thursday April 23 PJ day, grade 5s transition visit to Twelve Mile Coulee School, and …

The Scenic Acres School Council is excited to present our spring Sock Slide PJ Dance on Thursday April 23. It's going to be Pajama Day during school hours so students can just wear their PJ's all day long! We would like to invite students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 to join us from 5:15 to 6:15 for some spring bopping fun. Students in Grades 3 to 5 are invited to come and show off their dance moves from 6:30 to 7:30.

This is a free, family friendly event. Please note that an adult is expected to remain on site to supervise their student(s) during the event. Each student is allocated up to 3 tickets (1 for the student and 2 for guests) as we need to stay within the building's fire code capacity. You may reserve your tickets at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/scenic-acres-school-sock-slide-pj-dance-tickets-1984674683404?aff=oddtdtcreator. If your family requires additional tickets, please contact the Special Events team (sasc.specialevents@gmail.com) and we will try our best to accommodate your family.

We will also require volunteers with current valid police clearance to help us run the dance smoothly. The majority of the time slots are 20 minutes each so you will still have time to enjoy the dance with your family! You may find the position description and requirements at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D4BA5AA28A3FE3-62772148-sock. Your support will be instrumental in making this event a success.
