Principal’s message June 5, 2026
Staff Update
On Monday, June 8 we welcome Patrick Chan to room 6.
Traffic and Pedestrian Safety
For everyone who drops off or picks up by car – please check out the short video on this web page:
https://ama.ab.ca/community/build/school-safety-patrol#about-our-patrollers
Next year, grade 5 students will have the opportunity to participate in the AMA Safety Patroller program. This is an amazing opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, work as a team and contribute positively to the school community. Plus, there are perks galore! More information to come in September on how to sign up, training and schedules.
We believe that having patrollers manage the crosswalk on Scurfield Way will improve traffic flow, allowing vehicles to get in and out of the cul-de-sac more efficiently, improving safety for everyone and hopefully reducing stress for drivers.
Bike Rodeo Rescheduled for June 16
Students are invited to bring their bikes or scooters, and helmet to school on Tuesday June 2 for our Bike Rodeo. Students will participate in special activities during their PE class, guided by our amazing volunteers. From safety stations to skill-building challenges, it’s going to be a blast! We encourage all students to participate to the best of their abilities. Training wheels are totally ok! We’re grateful to Ridley's Cycle for sponsoring prizes and providing a bike maintenance tent to keep everyone riding safely, and to the events committee of the school council for making this happen!
If your child does not come to school with a helmet and a bike or scooter, they will participate in activities on foot.
Students will be directed by a volunteer to park their bike or scooter in a designated area for their class when they arrive at school. We ask that the bikes and scooters be left unlocked in the morning of the bike rodeo day as volunteers will be on site to keep the bikes and scooters safe during the school day. If your student(s) are not heading home directly after school, please send a lock with them and they can lock up their bike or scooter at the rack after their activities. You can then collect the bike at a time convenient to you.
After the bike rodeo session students will be offered a snack provided by the school. If you prefer your child does not receive a snack, please inform their homeroom teacher.
If you have ordered a Fun Snack for your child, the prepackaged snack school can come home if they don’t want to eat both.
