Dear Scenic Acres Families,

What an incredible way to head into winter break! It was wonderful to see so many of you at the concert yesterday, and your children were amazing in their performances. We loved the variety of acts and the confidence our students showed on stage. A huge thank you to Mr. Cooper and all our teachers for the preparation, care, and countless hours that went into making the concert such a success. We have some amazing future performers in our school community. Thank you as well to the parents who helped with chair cleanup after the concert, especially Galen and Jamie B. for helping sort the black and blue chairs to their different destinations.

We are also incredibly grateful to the many parents who stepped up during this week’s blizzard to help dig out staff vehicles on . We are so proud of the generosity shown through our Terry Fox fundraising and the Calgary Food Bank drive. Our students and families continue to show what it means to care for others.  A special thank you as well to our School Council Special Events Team for leading today’s winter craft (LEGO wreaths). The students were thrilled! Thank you to all parent volunteers for giving your time and making the day so special for our kids.

As we head into the break, we hope your family has time to rest, connect with loved ones, and recharge. We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Looking ahead (January):

  • January 5: Students return to school
  • January 8: Grade 3/4 field trip to the Leighton Centre
  • January 12: Kindergarten registration begins
  • January 16: Spirit Day – wear your Scenic Acres shirts or hoodies
  • January 17 (late morning): Grade 5 Outdoor School Bottle Drive – parent drop-off at Scenic Acres School. Save your holiday bottles and cans please!
  • January 19–23: Mission Impossible in the gym
  • Last week of January: Swimming lessons
    • We are often short male supervisors for the boys’ locker room and would appreciate support from dads or grandpas if you are available.
