Family members are invited to come to the field to cheer for the students on Friday, September 18 starting at 9:15 AM.
Fun Lunch - Subway | Thursday, September 17
Our first fun lunch is being delivered on Thursday, September 17 from Subway! It is available to all students except Kindergarten. Please visit www.healthyhunger.ca to register your child and complete their order. The deadline to order is Saturday, September 12 at 11:59 PM.
Meet the Teacher - Thursday, September 17 | 3:15 - 4:15 PM
Drop in to see the classroom, say hello to the teacher, and celebrate the schoolwork your child wants to show you. If you would like to have a private conversation with the teacher, please contact them to book a separate time. IPP conferences will be held on September 25.
Inclusive Hoops
We are hugely grateful to Inclusive Hoops, who provided us with a try-it day of instruction in wheelchair basketball for the entire school at no cost. Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to try this activity, which was new to most of us.
Parking and Patrollers
Safety Patrollers will start on Tuesday, September 15 before and after school at the crosswalk on Scurfield Way. Pedestrians are asked to wait on the sidewalk until the patrollers yell "PROCEED" and drop their arms, indicating it is safe to cross.
Drivers - we appreciate your patience as students learn how to judge when there is a big enough gap in traffic to put out the stop sign. This is one of the hardest parts for students learning this job and there is no way to train them in this skill other than through experience. We also appreciate drivers not parking within 5 metres of a crosswalk or intersection, including the corner of Scurfield Way and Scurfield Place.
Students who are patrollers should have received an invitation to the Patroller Google Classroom, where you will find the schedule and training materials.
Swimming Volunteers
Our Grade 1-5 students will be swimming at Sir Winston Churchill Pool from Tuesday, October 13 to Friday, October 16, and we require parent volunteers to help make this trip successful - no swimming required! Volunteers will help students in the changerooms and ensure their belongings stay organized. Please bring appropriate indoor footwear such as flip flops, as outdoor shoes are not permitted in the changerooms.
We are looking for 5 female and 5 male volunteers each morning from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM. If possible, we ask that volunteers drive themselves or carpool.
All volunteers must have a valid police clearance. If you do not have one yet, or are unsure if yours is still valid, please see Mrs. Wolfe in the main office with your driver's license before signing up.
Sign up to volunteer here.
Celebrations
If you would like to mark an occasion such as a birthday with kindness and generosity, please note that due to nutrition and food handling regulations in the CBE, we are not permitted to share food from home. Instead, we suggest a small item like a pencil or novelty eraser to give to classmates if you so choose.
CBE Message - Child and Youth Well-Being Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community. Sessions are designed to provide families with knowledge, tools, and strategies to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today. Additional session details are available at the Child and Youth Well-Being Family and Caregiver Series link.
