Dear Scenic Acres Families,

I hope everyone had a restful and joyful summer with time outdoors, special moments with family, and perhaps some quiet reading. 

As we prepare to welcome students back, here are some important updates to help with a smooth start. The school schedule is the same as last year. 8:25am entry with a 8:30am start, 3:10pm dismissal (M to Th). Friday is 8:25am entry with a 8:30am start and a 12:40pm dismissal. Please do not leave your children unattended until 8:15am (supervision starts). 

Class Placement and Teacher Communication

Teachers will be emailing class placement and welcome information to families by late Thursday or Friday. We appreciate your patience as we finalize class lists and accommodate new student registrations.

If you feel a phone call would be more helpful than an email, our teachers are happy to connect with you personally. They will communicate using email (school messenger) unless they hear otherwise. 

Families who are brand new to Scenic Acres will receive both an email and a phone call.

Kindergarten Staggered Start (we are still only have AM K, but are monitoring the numbers daily)

To support a gentle beginning, Kindergarten students will follow a staggered entry schedule:

  • Tuesday September 2: Students with last names beginning A through K
  • Wednesday September 3: Students with last names beginning L through W
  • Beginning Thursday September 4: All Kindergarten students attend every day

Families will receive additional information directly from the Kindergarten team.

Grades 1 through 5 First Day

All students in Grades One through Five begin on Tuesday September 2. Teachers will meet students outside on the south field, which is located opposite Scenic Acres Boulevard.

Grade Five students can look forward to being in Mr. Clovis’s class.

Welcome to Ms. Rawlings

We are very fortunate to welcome Kya Rawlings to our staff. She will be joining us in place of Ms. Query and will be with us through May 2026. Ms. Rawlings will be sending an introductory message to families very soon.

Behind the Scenes at School

This week, our teachers are engaged in important preparation activities including:

  • Reviewing our School Development Plan goals in writing, wellness and Indigenous education
  • Analyzing last year’s data to plan meaningful next steps for student learning
  • Setting up classrooms and organizing grade team plans
  • Welcoming new students and confirming supports

It is shaping up to be a meaningful and exciting year.
